Delicious Deutschland: German National Tourist Board announces ‘Culinary Germany” campaign

The German National Tourist Board UK and Ireland (GNTO) has announced its main editorial and marketing campaign for 2018 as Culinary Germany. The aim of the campaign is to highlight the diversity of fresh, regional dishes throughout Germany’s 16 Federal States, including traditional favorites to the innovations and new trends being developed by Germany’s emerging culinary stars. From rural regions such as the Black Forest (including Baiersbronn with 8 Michelin Stars) to the internationally renowned restaurants of major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, from Dresden to Düsseldorf, Culinary Germany will take visitors on a tour of Germany’s fascinating foodie landscape.

While beer and bratwurst are of course an integral part of the country’s festivals and public holidays they’re just one small part of all the pleasures on offer. Germany has over 30 foodie scenic routes, 13 wine growing regions and more than 290 Michelin-starred and gourmet restaurants, but did you know the Doner Kebab was invented in Germany?

GNTO director Beatrix Haun explained: “this is a major campaign to tempt people to explore different areas of Germany through their favorite foods and perhaps discover something new. If you’re a wine aficionado, you’re spoilt for choice. Swap the big beer festivals for smaller, cozier, regional celebrations and discover Gemütlichkeit – Germany’s special recipe for combining good food with good company. Not only is German food delicious, each region has a story to tell. Our Culinary campaign is just one of the many reasons to travel to Germany and we look forward to welcoming all visitors in search of good food and wonderful travel memories”.
